Minor Decision

A full bus,

Silent,

There is only soft sleep,

Worry, knowing of impending pain

Sleep, soft no longer,

Ordinary boys,

Tired,

But more awake than they have been all week,

Confident but secretly unsure,

Great feats from ordinary boys,

Tension,

Conflicts arise among brothers,

Intense preparation evokes worry,

There is a single moment.

Present yourself hold your breath,

Weeks of work,

You made it.

Familiar leach still not comfortable,

One unit of many preparing together,

Show the collective strength,

Soon they’ll all be alone

Some will be pushed to the edge,

Some will jump off and achieve the unthinkable.

Your turn, butterflies,

Go

Shots fired, defenses spread,

Drive, Drive, Drive

Two, “Know where you are!”

Keep it in…Damn,

Get up, reset

Break him, Break him

Broke him,

“Watch your weight!”

got your leg,

Hips, Hips

Drive, he’s flat

Break

Four More

Start down,

Up, Up, Up!

Out

Free…Air never smelled so fresh,

Sweat never tasted so sweet,

Back…

SPRAWL!

To safety to sound balance,

Grind his head,

Spin, spin, spin

Control, 2

Break him, own him, know him

Sits out,

Got your leg,

Get free!

Peterson,

Stay on your stomache,

2! Reversal

Break, 2 more

Neutral

Single piked

2!

Control

An anvil on your shoulder

CRUNCH

But you don’t feel it

Reversal, 2

3/4 on your bad shoulder

Can’t breathe

Don’t need oxygen,

Bridge!

Muscles out. 30

145 lbs on your head. 25

can’t feel. 20

can’t see. 15

can’t hear. Almost there

can’t cry, or scream, or die, it’s all in, no more

Break

3 backs

7-7

Down to this strike first, you just have to strike first

Still no feeling,

Numb

Heart obdurate,

One way,

One goal,

One minute.

This is the edge where some are able to dive off of and free themselves, and where others simply cower. When in overtime you do not think or know or remember. You only care. You drive or sprawl or throw, doesn’t matter. You know that you want it, you care about this match. You know that you work harder and that you are stronger. You will strength, because it is no longer physical. As you progress letting go becomes easier, god knows I’ve only done it a couple of times. When in a match you know yourself, and what you’re truly made of so perfectly, that physical and mental strength become one. And only a truly unified person can ever win.

Back,

Movement,

Lock, 45

Unlock

Shot! Drive!

Good sprawl

Back out and up quick, 30

Got your leg,

Imprisoning your balance,

Hips down, knifing,

Got it,

Fists and forearm draw your warm blood,

Leaves prints on your arm,

No matter, just hide it, 20

drive

Goddamn good sprawl,

Drive

Face trailing blood on the mat,

2 1/2 mile runs, 15

DRive

Endless situational, 10

DRIve

Money in the bank, now you spend your last cent, 5

DRIVe

He spins,

Shoulder cracks, but pushes back, 4

DRIVE

With a final push, he spins and grinds, 3

Even the adrenaline is gone now,

But, his strength matched, and overcome by pure desire

He crumbles, 2
