The Anticipation
24 hours until my birthday. I have been counting down the days for four months now.
I can’t sleep at all because I am too excited. I woke up at 6:00 a.m. and I was dressed and ready to go by 7:00 a.m.
When I got to school my friends wished me a Happy Birthday with singing, cake and cards. I also got a bunch of balloons at the end of the day.
The biggest present that I wanted, though, was my permit. As soon as the 2:25 p.m. bell rang, my balloons and I were outside waiting.
We arrived at the Registry. My heart was in my throat. As I took the test, I was scared. I took my test hoping to pass. As I came out of the room, I flashed my dad one of the biggest smiles ever.
The anticipation was over. I held there in my hand the permit.
