The Day We Didn't Get TV
“Get ready for school” The sound of the PBS kids show “Arthur” Is drowned out by talk of “Get ready, get your shoes, hurry up, Captain Crunch? Kix? Coco Puffs? Eat Breakfast. Hurry up.” The walk down Parker St. goes on forever. I keep walking but I never seem to get to Lexington High.
I go to the cafeteria to chill with my friends until the bell rings for first class. First class, second class, third class Lunch. Fourth class, fifth class, sixth class Crunch. The final bell rings I look forward to sports After sports I look forward to going home and eating food and watching TV. This one day I couldn’t get good reception on the television, and called my mom on the phone and asked, “Where’d the cable go?” She said, “I got rid of it.” I asked, “Why?” She said “Because I don’t like what is on it.” I was really mad at her so I went upstairs and did my homework.
Since that day I’ve only been able to watch only some football games and other sports on a TV with a broken antenna. But no MTV or HBO, stuff like that.
