In the End

With love for a very special teacher and friend, Mrs. D

I’ve grown up thinking I knew it all,

that I had it all figured out,

but life was a constant battle trying to get to that other side of the wall.

People could break me without even trying,

but I know that I could be lying,

that if I didn’t tell you that if it wasn’t for you guiding me through the way,

In the end I wouldn’t be here where I am today.

The world could be an ugly place,

and could not accept me for who I was,

and sometimes I felt like I couldn’t keep up with the pace.

But you stood strong by me and showed me all I’ve been blinded to,

You believed in me,

In the end you helped me make it through.

Life ticks by every moment of every day,

only leaving us with the memories.

Now as I have grown older,

I realized that I don’t know it all,

In the end the amount I know about life is sadly small.

Knowing the door was always open,

and you’d always be there,

told me how much you truly did care.

In the end you proved to me that I was wrong,

and all along,

you were so much more than a teacher,

you were a friend.
