I Love School
6:45 a.m. Stereo comes on CD 3 track 10 plays at volume 15 The room begins to vibrate Finally, I get out of bed Still half-asleep, I walk to the bathroom to shower and get dressed 7:20 a.m. I go downstairs and straight out the door, No time for breakfast, or even a snack The brisk air outside hits my face The car starts, but no heat comes on Nearing school, the traffic slows, as new drivers repeatedly attempt to park their cars, Parents drop off their kids in the middle of the road, completely stopping traffic Surrounded by expensive cars, I step out and walk into Lexington High School, where 50-minute classes seem to be days long, and hours of homework are regular Finally, 2:25 p.m., school ends I can’t wait to get home to start working The next morning, I fall asleep, anxious to wake up and do it all over again… I love school…
