Sarah Parrish
MY LITTLE SISTER
I wish that there could have been a way For me to not have let you down That I owned the only heart that broke When I went crashing to the ground. I wish that you had not invested All your little faiths in me That there was someone else around That was the one you wanted to be. I wish you hadn’t bought my shoes Laced your skates up just like me Painted yourself a different color So you wouldn’t have the blue to see.
You didn’t know that I was still growing Young and naive, just like you That I was just as easily broken That my dreams could be shattered too. So in your awkward shoes you sit And you do not know what to do If the big girl couldn’t do it Now you wonder, how can you?
So I am sorry I let you down I’m sorry if your hopes are crossed And I hope that following in my footsteps Hasn’t made you very lost.
